The Nigerian Federalization project is a permanent initiative of the Centre contributing to Nigeria’s federal discourse and the entrenchment of a true federal political system in Nigeria.

The project was commissioned in 2022 and focused on a conceptualization of the idea of federalism- its history, nature and elements, and an analysis of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to identify sections incompatible with the federal idea and suggest their removal or appropriate amendments.

The ultimate aim of the project is the development of a model federal constitution for Nigeria.
